Better get crackin! Shooting ranges get real busy this time of year. The longer you wait, the longer you'll...um...wait.

It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

T/C Encore (not Pro) in stainless and walnut. .50 X 209.
One other barrel for it in 6.5 X 55. Many deer on the muzzleloader and one black bear on the Swede. This setup replaced my T/C Renegade .54 cal that spent 25 years with me in the deer woods.

I'm primarily using a Remington Model 14 R in .30 Remington this year. The Winchester Model 70 .257 Roberts is on standby.

Mostly this year I have used:

When planning on open field stands = mauser G98 .280, customized see pic

Shorter range area = mauser G98 .257 Roberts. Same style but no pics available

Marlin 336, 30-30 with 160gr LeverRevolution ammo. With a Bushnell Sportview 3-9 scope.

This gun is my primary Deer gun that my MIL gave me in 1982, it's scratched and generally beat up, But it shoots a 1" group at 100 yards with no problem

I LOVE lever guns. I also have a Winchester 94 Ranger with a John Wayne Lever and iron sites. It has only been factory test fired.

    Marlin 336 30-30 with 180 grainers I believe

Wouldn't hesitate to use my AR though. Deer are pretty small in NC.
