Mine is a Remington Sportsman 78 (basically a 700) in 270win. Choate "Ultimate Sniper" stock. The scope is a Tasco World Class 8-32 x 50. This doubles as my woodchuck picker offer in the summer

Browning A Bolt Stalker 30-06 or Marlin 336a in 30-30 depending.

Haven’t hunted deer in a long time but when I did I used a Parker-Hale 1200 in 30/06 with a Tasco 3-9 scope.

Most of the time of late I just carry a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. and my Ruger Redhawk 44 mag. Sometimes just the Ruger. Where I hunt 125 yards is the longest shot I will get so the Marlin with open sights is all that is required.
I put the Husqvarna 30.06 up about 10 years ago and have shot it very little since.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Remington Woodsmaster Model 740 30-06. Fifty years old, but that is not so old any more.
Well, this year, I got my one NH firearm deer in Muzzleloader season and I took that with a T/C Encore in-line 209x50 Magnum. Usually, its my Winchester Model 54 in 30-06 that my Grandfather hunted with that goes with me. Just has peep sights and is acceptable to ~200yds. Not that you ever get a shot over 80-100yds around here.
Winchester model 94 30-30, and I have a few mil surplus bolt actions that can be used, 2 Enfields, Swiss K 31, 3 Mausers M 48, Mas 36, 6 Mosin Nagants M 44/ M 38, and 2 semi-auto FN FALs
My deer rifle was a Remington 30-06 which can handle a lot of different game due to the wide selection of bullet weights.
Thompson Encore in .270 for deer and 7mm mag for elk. With this rifle, all you need is one shot.

The only rifle I have that will be light enough to carry through the woods is my Kimber sporterized Swede Mauser 6.5x55 which is absolutely awesome. I'm stoking it with the 140gr A-Max I've made myself. I think the wife will be taking her Ruger 25-06 with the Fusion ammo.
The three I use the most:
Remington M40-7.62NATO- for LLLOOONNNGGG SHOTS
Steyr Mountain Rifle- .243- under 200 yard shots
Marlin Guide Gun- .45-70- brush gun

Depends on what kind of mood I am in...
Remington 700 .308 with 4x14 Leupold.
Remington 700 in .300 Whisper (Suppressed) with 4 x14 Leupold
Marlin 444 for the running and gunning.

I'm not much of a deer hunter, but when I do, I like my Weatherby 30-06. I should do more of it though, as I live and have access to some of the best deer country there is.
Here in Ohio, its slugs, muzzle loader or archery only. I use an 1187 for that.
Good news is, I typically will hunt in Kentucky, where I can use my rifle.
I have had a thing for a 336 in 35R lately. I might pick one up for the heck of it.

I haven't hunted in about 25 years but am going to go again this year. I broke out my trusty Savage 170 30-30 pump from my younger days. I bought a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 off of eBay to put on top of it and I'll be loading it up with Hornady Leverevolution 140g. Now I just to have to find me some deer.![]()
