    It's SBR time....

Thanks to the wonders of the letter and spirit of the National Firearms Act of 1934 and a convenient LLC filing, my Form 1 for making a short-barrelled rifle out of my Vector pistol was finally approved after six weeks in limbo. Yay me.

To make a V51 into a rifle from the pistol configuration is a stupidly simple job. You file the necessary forms with the ATF (if allowed in your state, consult your attorney), pay the $200 tax, and wait for approval. You order a stock (or have one converted) with the special recoil assembly used in the short rifle. In my case, you order two. The fixed stock isn't here yet sadly, but I'll live somehow. You then pop two pins from the receiver, replace the cap on the rear of the weapon with an actual stock, and presto-chango, in less than thirty seconds you're ready to exercise your newly licensed right to keep and bear non-sporting arms.

    Yes, mom, it's everybody's favorite G3 in a pint-sized package only a couple inches larger than an MP-5. Yes, that's a .308. Yay me.

Yes, it's wrong to have to pay the tax to do this stuff, but... there comes a point at which you just cut the check and enjoy the rest of the ride.

I am so freaking happy. Next stop, M203. Yes, I'm serious. I want one by the end of the year. ;0

    Nice!

Does the $200 tax have to be paid for each rifle you convert, or is it a one-time "license" for rfurtcamp to modify as many rifles as he wants to (or, should I say, can afford to ) ?

The tax must be paid on each NFA item.

It's like paying for your car title. Once it's done, it's done - but with no additional yearly cost for plates. ;0

Anyway that's a great looking rifle. You know what they say, You have to pay to play.

Looks nice and short. Too bad my state will not allow SBR for us. A 203 would be fun, but might get expensive quick to shoot.

Cool piece! I shot the H&K full auto version of your SBR a few years ago, and the muzzle flash/report was sending shock waves through everyone at the range. It was the only time I ever used both ear plugs, and muffs. LOL

    Yes, actually I am.

I have *zero* heavy weapons in my arsenal, and time has come to change that. ;0

Yep, was still in pistol form at that time, but same gun.

I have another one in pistol form coming.
