The 229 fits my hand best, and I'm a fan of .40 and 357sig, both of which I think it handles really well. If I were going 9mm, however, I'd look for a 228. They're a bit lighter, really nice.
I had to make the "which sig" decision once...decided on the 229. I'd love to add a few more other sigs to the collection though, like the 226, 220, 239, 245, and 250...
But, my P220 is the SAS DAK and I default to that. Maybe I just like the feel of wood grips.
The only SIG I disliked enough to sell was a SP2340. Even switching grips, it never quite felt right when shooting. It worked fine, shot good groups, etc. Just didn't feel right in my hand when shooting.
P220 . 45 - My favorite Sig and I think the best fighting pistol ever made
P229 .40 with a .357 Sig barrel
P232 .380 My cutting the grass and running to the store gun
P6 9mm - Still trying to decide what I want to do with it.
Mosquito (cough) I bought it for my son before I knew what a POC it was.
Another vote for the 220... this gun feels "custom" in my hand...
When I was looking to buy this pistol, I read up about it at a LEO forum... just about every single cop said it was their favorite gun. I was expecting some Glock disciples to chime in, but they all loved the 220...
It was tough but I had to go with the P228.
It conceals almost as well as my P225 and with Mec-Gar magazines it holds as much as my P226 with factory mags. As much as I love the P220, if I could only have one I would say the P228 is the best "all around" pistol of the bunch.
My P228 is the gun I would turn to if somethign happened I couldnt carry my G23. Very well balanced, and inherently accurate. Everybody who handles or shoots it loves it. That being said, I would like to have a 220.
It was a toss up for me, I have the sig p229 and p220... p229 in 9mm. I love them both the same. Neither have had any malfunctions, and I'm lethally accurate with my p220 even more so than my 1911. The p220 fits my hand like it was made for it, but I voted for the p229 because I have had more rounds through it and its my carry gun, and its a prettier model IMO
