    Cleaned under the grips....

I cleaned under my grips for the first time and there was a lot of g0ok where trigger spring is by the grips. I was wondering if this is just from over penetrated oil, or it was put there by the manufacture as grease to lubricate the trigger pull? I cleaned most of it off, and oiled it. If you don't know please don't guess. Thanks

I thought you were going to say you found Jimmy Hoffa.

Probably from oil build up. The user manual for most pistols will tell you to clean the new pistol before shooting. I don't think they expect you to clean EVERYTHING... thats what "gun scrubber" in a can is for

I have always just attributed it to a build up of gunk over time, related to oil creep. Every once in a while I strip the 1911 completely down and clean all that out. I have never had it cause any problems, and I have seen it really dirty. I just clean it out and forget about it until next time I am in there.
