    1911 Finger Groove Grip Suggestion

Thinking of changing the G-10's on my Sprinfield EMP to a variant with finger grooves. I know there are several out there but I have no experience with any of them.

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

FWIW - the EMP is a .40, I have the Cocobolo and the Mil-Tac G-10's.

    Thanks in advance.

Personally, I liked the Hogue rubber wrap around, finger groove grips on my former 1911. They're actually three pieces in the package. The front grip wrap, and the sides individually. Most comfortable grip I've ever had on a pistol of any kind. Even my current pistols won't even come close in comfort to that grip. Of course my current pistols won't even come close to the feel of that all steel 1911 either. It is what it is, and I work with it.

    I too like Hogue.

You're might have problem finding a pair that fit correctly as the EMPs grip frame dimensions are different than a standard 1911. I don't see any listing from Hogue or Pierce for the EMP.

the hogue finger grooves fit the emp. but you have to shave the top for the extended thumb safety, and the sides for the mag release. :)

Interesting, doesn't look like a very good fit and there might a gap between the front strap and the grip. It's hard to tell in that photo. I'd be concerned with moisture building up under the finger grooves, but as the wife would say "Whatever floats your whistle".

thanks for the replies guys. I would never put on an incorrect fit, that's for sure. I do like the G-10's that I have on it now, but also like the finger grooves. It would be nice to have something on the front strap......

Bladen, I had those on 2 1911s and the lil Pachmyr logos kept falling off. I epoxied them back on, and they fell off again. I hot melt glued em. They fell off again. Now I'm feeling like that father in Monty Python & the Holy Grail--"So, I built it again, it caught fire, fell over, and sank in the swamp..."

I sent 'em back, regrettably, because they did a decent job.

    There's always poor mans checkering

    http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...oard-tape.html

I've "upgraded" my Browning's front strap since then with rubberized traction tape, it's grippy but not as abrasive as the non-skid, don't have any pictures up yet of the new stuff, it would probably look better on the EMP as it's gray. You can get black or gray rubberized stuff pre-trimmed from VZGrips if you want, but I got a whole roll of the tape for less then $7.00

I have the Hogue one-piece wrap around on my PT1911. It sits tight on there. Any tighter and metal and rubber would be one.
