    Listing

    hello

I don't know if I have this in the right thread or not.

But any way does any one a link to how many LE agencies that issue or allow 1911's as duty weapons?
    Thanks

I don't know of any official lists about what police departments carry. There isn't many who allow 1911's. Although, there seems to be a slight swing towards the 1911 again.

Most who do allow the 1911 do not issue it. And those who do issue it, typically only do so to SWAT members. (LAPD)

You're probably going to get better info from the gun manufacturers than elsewhere. Kimber, for example, made much of the fact that the Tacoma PD chose their 1911 several years ago as a duty weapon.

A lot of the western states depts tend to lean toward allowing 1911s. Montana Arizona, and as mentioned...Washington.

In my borough duty firearm choice is left up to the individual officer.

Each deputy is assigned Colt .45 automatic handgun, along with a Remington 12 gauge pump action shotgun. Deputies are also provided the option of being issued a Colt .223 caliber patrol rifle. In addition to firearms, deputies also trained in the use of less-lethal devices, such as Taser stun guns and Oleoresin Capsicum (pepper) spray.
