    Question about 45 magazines

Does anybody use those rubber ends for their magazines? Why or why not. I'm of the mind not to because it's extra length on the handle that I'm trying to hide. Your thoughts on this please. Thanks.

They only add an 1/8" or 3/16" at most. Unless it is a Chip McCormick, and that might be a 1/2". Not too difficult to hide. And the benefits you get from them are great. That extra length can help you smack a magazine in place during a rapid reload, also preventing any part of the hand being pinched. Second, during practice these mags are dropped often. That pad will protect the base as it hits rock or concrete and not beat your mag to death.

I like my 1911 mags to be flush with the frame.

My carry mag is flush to the gun. My reload has a base-pad (actually, it is an 8-rounder for an officer's model, so it sticks out anyway, but it has a base-pad).

Before I got the 8-rounders, I still used a base-pad on my reload.

I keep my Glock-36 flush, but my Glock-26 has the Pearse base for a bit more finger grip, not more ammo...it does not make a difference in the length as it is already so short.
My two Kimbers are both kept flush, but I don't believe the rubber tip would make much of a difference.OMO

I have both but prefer the flush type.

With an officer grip 1911... I find just the opposite is true. The little tab on my Wilson Combat mags just love to bite! I've learned to hold out the pinkie finger before slamming them home.

Wow! All the rounds I have fired thru my Officer's with the same mags and I have never gotten bit like that!! OUCH!!

I do have an S/A extended mag well on mine though, but not sure if that keeps it from happening to me or not.

I find that the mag well and the Wilson 7rnd mags w/base pad are perfect for my paw and wouldn't trade them for nothin'!!
