I'm doing my part to stimulate the economy and buy American. A couple of consignment items sold from when I was out of work not too long ago.
I brought home a S&W M&P 15 A this afternoon. :danceban:
Funny thing is I went shopping with the intent of buying a Colt. After looking at the options I changed my mind. The SIG 556 is a nice rifle, but too expensive for me, and I really wanted a true AR. The new Ruger is nice as well, but, I don't care for the pictany front hand guards at all. So I looked at DMPS, Bushmaster, and serveral colts.
I thought too that I would get an AR in the rifle format, the the carbine just called my name. When I compared the Colt to the M&P, the M&P seemed like a much better value to me. It cost less than the Colt, and the current rebate for 5 free mags is pretty sweat. Also, the M&P has a 5.56 chamber, if that really matters. The receiver is completly devoid of caliber markings - not sure how that made it out of the factory. In very tiny etching on the upper barrel is 5.56 Nato.
The only thing I would have preferred is a fixed rear stock, rather than the adjustable one. I'm just old school in that regard I suppose.
Still trying to figure out how the heck do you adjust the front sight?
I also brought home a Marlin 22lr bolt action. A very nice gun.
I plan to get a lot of use out of this next fall. :image035:
I plan to go to the range tomorrow and try them both out. I can hardly contain my excitement!
Hope the S&W M&P 15 serves you well.
Great job stimulating the economy. Keep up the good work!
They make a front sight tool you can use to adjust the post up or down or in the Military we used a bullet tip or other pointy object,if you look at the sight you will notice it has detents around the base, there is a pin you push down while turning the sight, screwing it to the right or down raises POI,left lowers POI
Congratulations on your new rifle!
