If I weren't so lazy and plain disinterested in this characters useless diatribe I would go through it and list all the logical fallacies that it contains. Since I am lazy and disinterested I will just ask one simple question that requires only a yes or no answer so the author won't have to overtax his obviously already overloaded brain cells. The question is: "Did the Third Reich under Adolph Hitler as the leader National Socialist German Workers Party (sometimes referred to by the title Nazi) practice gun control?" Since he has already answered the question in his pathetic tract I will supply his answer here. His answer is yes. In that case my response is: "I rest my case, I need prove nothing else."

For those of you who have never studied logic, when someone is propounding an argument or trying to make a case for or against anything one must watch to make sure that the arguments used are really arguments and not what are called logical fallacies. The classic example of the logical fallacy is what is called the argumentum ad hominem or argument to the man. This is where one is not able to refute his opponents arguments so he attacks the man. We see this everyday in politics. 90% of the things said about President Bush by the MSM and Democrats is nothing but ad hominem arguments.

There is a great little book on logic that was written back in the early 80s called Don't You Believe It! by A. J. Hoover. Unfortunately the book is out of print. Dr. Hoover has gratiously allow a website to post the book online at:

    http://members.core.com/~tony233/Don...elieve_It!.htm

If you want to know how to read or listen to arguments, debates, defenses, etc. and know where these are wrong read this book. My suggestion is to save the page that contains the book so you can get to it any time. If you haven't saved a webpage before it is simple. Just press Ctrl and s. In the window that pops up choose where you want to save the file, then on the second line at the bottom instead of saving as webpage *.html choose Web archive, single file (*.mht). This will save everything in one file and will open when you double click on it. The book is worth the effort to save it.

Indeed. That's why gun control is evil, even if its proponents are not evil themselves. The gun grabbers of the Weimar Republic had only the best intentions, I have no doubt. Curb gang violence with sensible firearm restrictions... now, where did I hear that recently?

I feel the nazi's had a two edged sword, sure they were ingenious in their political manuvers, but the gun control just further assured that their subjects were kept in check. To deny that the nazis did not take advantage of gun control is ridiculous. Its a lot easier to herd people when you know they won't shoot you.

And in 1984 it happened here in America. Sort of. In the movie Red Dawn gun owners are IDed from the sales records they filled out each time they bought a gun.
    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dawn

In a later scene a Cuban officer orders one of his men to report to the local office of records and obtain the paperwork of local citizens who own firearms. The Cuban officer specifically refers to Form 4473, which is the actual form used to record the sale of a firearm by a dealer to a private citizen in the United States.

Hunting had always been an upper-class sport in Germany, and many people owned sporting rifles. During WW-II all officers had their own sidearms, generally .32-cal for the deskbound, and P-38s for officers in the field. Thus, the populace was essentially as armed as the US. However, German society was quite different. Germany was never the wild West. It did not have a pioneer background, and nobody hunted for food.

As the article mentioned, gun control was not necessary if the populace was already controlled by expert propaganda, a unified population, and the feeling (in the beginning of Hitler's reign) that Germany was miraculously emerging from a desperate despression--thanks to their own god--Adolf Hitler.

By the time some of the people began to see behind the expert facade, it was too late. too many people were sucked-in to the system, and then trapped. With nearly every able-bodied male in the armed forces--who was left to rebel? And in a country with a military armed to the teeth, what good would a bunch of idealist students with a handful of pistols and hunting rifles have been able to accomplish? Nothing. And that's what they did accomplish.

Not to mention that by the time people did realize what they were up against, they had already been effectivly disarmed. I noticed that he does not mention the Warsaw Ghetto and his endnote show that clearly Hitler saw an armed populance a major threat.
