Any suggestions for a bedside safe for my HD pistol? Needs to keep kids and others out but be super easy/quick for me to open, likely in the dark. Thanks for your ideas!

GV1000C-STD - MINI & MINI DELUXE - HANDGUN SAFES
Going to be my first safe purchase. Only $140, and it's biometric.
Am I reading it wrong, or aren't the biometric ones quite a but more?
Before buying bio safes, actually try it to see how long it takes to recognize your print.
I got a Secure It Safe from Cabelas for quick response. It has a key lock on top to secure it and I keep the key on my car/house key ring. At night, I unlock it leaving the key so I cannot leave the house without going to the box and locking it (if I leave my gun there). It also comes with a cable to wrap around the bed frame.
I believe I can have my gun ready in less time than opening a key safe and certainly a bio safe. The choice is usually a trade off between more secure or quicker access.
I use a micro-vault biometric pistol safe. It was $200 and it is the perfect size for my S&W 686. Opens in 3-4 seconds and keeps my young children out. I've been very happy with it.
From what I've seen, accessing takes a solid second to read your prints, no more than 2.
The one that comes up when I click the link is the GV1000C-STD, for $139.95. It is not biometric. The biometric safe is GVB1000 for $325.95. You can find that one here.
To answer the original question, the GVC1000C-STD is a good choice. Quick and easy access, reasonably priced, and you set the four button combination.
I stand corrected!I assumed that since it 'looked' like it was biometric that it was.

I have a Bershka biosafe... it takes about 1-2 seconds to open. however I keep my G19 in my nightstand at night and lock my bedroom door...so safe opening time is not an issue. I only lock it up when i'm not using/carrying.
However, I don't have children.

I just ordered the GVC1000C-DLX from MidwayUSA for $125. They have the STD model on sale for ~$90 right now.
Yeah GVB are the Bio ones, GVC are the combo ones. I might get the larger GVB one another time when I have more money.

I prefer number pads myself. Most biometric locks are easy to get past.
Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

This LockSAF is supposed to be one of the better biometric safes out there, but it comes at a cost too...
