JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A home invasion robbery ended in gunfire on the Westside.
Police said two men forced their way into the Morningside Apartment after the owner opened the door. A woman who stood hidden behind the two men shot at the homeowner twice. He was only hit with one shot in the side, and the injury is non-life threatening, police said. He was taken to Shands Hospital.
The apartment is located on 2401 Jammes Road. The burglars took his rent money off the counter and did not speak to the victim. All three people got away from the robbery that occurred at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said that within the past seven days burglaries are up by 200 percent in the Westside area.
