AR 15 for me, Mossberg 590 for the wife. This is if this happens in the middle of the night. In the day, I will most likely go to what is on my hip which these days is usually the Kahr CW9.

Mossberg 500 Tactical loaded with Winchester law enforcement 00 buckshot, but I'd use my S&W 915 in my nightstand to get me to the shotgun in my closet.

Wife and I, no kids left at home. Mossberg 500 laying under my side of the bed (5+0) ... When the kid(s)/grandkid(s) come to visit, Mossberg goes into the closet w/trigger lock and 9mm in biometric gunsafe becomes the primary until they depart.

I'm gonna grab my 870, but will also have a handgun in my waistband. I sleep in a comfortable pair of jeans just in case I have to venture outside.

Well I guess I have an update since the last time I visited this thread. Since I've gotten married and she moved in, we keep her Kahr CW9 holstered on the nightstand by her side of the bed with a spare mag next to it. My M&P .40c sits on one arm f the couch in its holster with a spare mag next to it. And finally, my Remington 870 Express Synthetic sits under the couch with 6 2-3/4" 00 shells in the tube.

Handgun (w/spare mag) & a handheld 90 lumen light w/strobe capability - The hangun is easier to manipulate when you're moving in tight quarters.

Plus, it's all I could afford at this point!

Phased-Plasma rifle in the 40 milliwat range.

But if that's not available, a revolver, not an auto, for a buncha reasons.
