Dont't pick up water bottles
Look closely before picking up a plastic bottle left on you're lawn
1. A plastic bottle with a cap (Like a normal water bottle).
2. A little Drano.
3. A little water.
4. A small piece of foil. (tin foil).
5. Disturb it by moving it; and BOOM (Less than 30 seconds)!!
6. No fingers left and other serious effects to your face, eyes, etc.
People are finding these bombs in mailboxes and in their yards, just
waiting for someone to pick it up intending to put it in the trash.
It takes about 30 seconds to blow after you move the thing.
Read Snopes if you think this is a hoax.

"Drano" bombs are nothing new, I heard about them back when I was growing up. A good general rule is, if you didn't drop it, don't pick it up if it looks suspicious.

Exactly.

Math was cool, chemistry was okay....I still don't get the English ordeal and dissecting a sentence. Besides....you know how long it's been since I've been out of high school? Writing the equation is remedial IMO. It works....that's all that matters. Most of my scientific experiments revolved around electricity and magnetism. Simple maybe...but non-destructive. LOL!

Me too. That's why I still have all my fingers.

Expanding gas only, not an explosion. I could see serious lacerations to the hand, but not missing fingers. With the new cheapo water bottles, usually the cap just blows off. Would scare the bejeezes out of you though! My nephews used to like to make these at 4th of July.

I learned how to make copenhagen can AP mines a few years ago in. You can make some crazy stuff that doesn't look all that suspicious. Like above, if it's not yours, don't mess with it.

Nice to know about, since something on one's front lawn probably would get picked up.

There were always dumb people setting these off in my dorm bathroom when I was in College. Makes a nasty toxic mess. They shut the building gown for hours and called in the hazmat crew.

I'm a Physics and Structural guy. I hate chemistry. Although I guess chemistry is just physics on a smaller scale

One big distinction. Molotov cocktail is a BATFE NFA listed item that can be registered as a Destructive Devices along with items such as anti-tank guns (over .50), bazookas and mortars, etc.
The Draino bomb is on their list somewhere as a Bomb but can't be registered.
