Having Illegals for neighbors
Long story short....
My girlfriend and I enter her house today to find that it had been broken into. They basically took everything.
I speak a bit of spanish so i decided to ask the neighbors if they had seen anything. They had.
They saw everything.
Two black guys knocked on the front door, jumped the fence, and made several trips in and out of the house with the many, MANY of our belongings.
The neighbors just stood there at the window and watched. They didn't call the police and they're unwilling to talk to the police once they arrive.
"Why didn't you call they police," I asked.
"We're not from here and we don't like to talk to police."
Awesome.
I'm sending the police over there to talk with them anyway.

They certainly don't mind talking to the food stamp and welfare offices!

I wish there were some law against not calling the police. I just can't believe they stood there and let it happen. What's spanish for "anonymously", as in, you could have just called in anonymously you slime?!?

...nor do they have trouble talking to school enrollment offices and hospital emergency rooms.

Silverback could be on to something, maybe they were in on it and the discription was a little bit off and your neighbors were the lookouts ? Either way it's a sickening feeling not to mention the POS's that live around you.

No. As strange as it may sound, her neighbors are actually decent people. They're breaking the law and taking advantage of our country's politically correctness, yes. Stealing tangible belongings, no. Should they be sent back to Mexico? Yes. Should they be accused of stealing tangible belongings? No. Someone that commits tax fraud shouldn't be immediately accused of murder. That's not the issue here.
Based on their description, I'm 99% sure I know who the two robbers are. The halfway house down the street (they're EVERYWHERE around here! This is in a very expensive, historic neighborhood.) has their residents/inmates doing community service throughout the neighborhood. Yesterday, I had a nice little moment with two black men, that fit the neighbors description, that were looking in my truck in a nonchalant kinda way.
We're still waiting for the police to show.

I used to work downtown in the city in an area that was a bit sketchy and required security at the building and patrolling the parking lots. At the end of the day, I came back to my car to find that someone had broken in and stolen my stereo and my backpack with some belongings. Walked back up to the security guard at the front door and to tell them what happened and to call police. Their response... "You drive that green car right? Oh yeah, I was wondering who that was sitting in your passenger seat."
Even people who's job it is to watch out for your stuff won't say anything to the cops either.

So the cop was a total dingbat.
He actually encouraged one of the roommates to lie on the police report.
"How much was the bike worth?"
"I picked it up for $20 at a yard sale."
"Well, you can claim it for $350."

How do you know that these people are illegal aliens?
Not trusting the police is a common thing in Latin America. I don't think you can expect someone who can't trust the police in their own country to trust the police in your country.
Heck, I'm in Germany now and my host swears that the police here are more trustworthy than in the States. I still don't trust the German police. I have no real reason not to, but I'm a foreigner and I don't know how to expect them to act.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
This is a cultural difference AND it is SOP among many places here in America among non-hispanic by appearance or spoken language _Americans_.
Speaking Spanish and not wishing to get involved (the bottom line) does not make a person to be an alien, and even if they were alien that does not specifically make them to be here illegally.
BTW there are a great many 'illegals' here in the US and they come from literally every culture, ethnicity, country and background on planet earth.
Sorry for your loss though.
It would have been courteous, neighborly and nice if the neighbors had dialed 911 using *67 or make use of the depts. anonymous tip line (if existent) which they may not have known or thought of.
