This is an attack that would justify use of deadly force due to a disparity of force had the driver been armed. As a third party it would be difficult to decide what action at take unless I were on scene and evaluated whether firing on the attackers would endanger others present the area. The first action would be to call 911 before doing anything else.

sounds like a swarm attack was already in progress before the driver rolled up to Burger King. even if the driver didnt have a cell phone, locking the doors would have been first on my list,second,assess the overall situation, if I see a angry mob in a parking lot I'm outta therw.But given his situation, Its like I've said before,when something horrible happens their will always be dozens of people standing around watching,and maybe 1 actually doing something about it. Looks like an employee would have took the initiative and called 911 before this guy got beat.

Not sure how I would handle it as a bystander. There are so many variables.

However, if I am the driver, I am going to decline to play the Reginald Denny role. Under Florida law, someone unlawfully entering an occupied vehicle is treated under the Castle Doctrine just as if they were unlawfully entering your home.

The driver stopped to try and do the right thing and it almost cost him his life. The women who sounded her horn for five minutes was very brave as this out of control mob could have just as easily turned on her. Sad commentary on some members of our society.
