There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.

I sometimes drive through Maryland. When I do I stop the car before the state line, unload the gun and lock it in the trunk. I put the ammo in the glove box. Sometimes you drive from part of WV through Maryland and back into WV. You can literally be in Maryland for only a few minutes, but I do lock up the gun anyway. Better safe than sorry; Maryland State Troopers aren't going be amused if you don't follow state law.

Familiarize yourself with the laws of the state you will be entering and obey those laws. Personally I would look the laws up myself rather than assuming any of us have the right answers.

Avoid those states. But if you have to go through them then get on handgunlaw.us and do some research. Make sure you lock up your firearms according to each state's laws.

I unload the gun and store it in the trunk. Magazines stored in another travel bag in the trunk.
