Two ideas to minimize home burglaries

I was reading a discussion about burglaries on another forum and had an epiphany.

Two potential ways to make your home less attractive to burglars.

First, post a sign on all the doors warning of a highly contagious disease inside.

Two, alter your landscape to prevent vehicular access to the back yard. A favorite tactic of daylight burglars is to park their vehicle in the back yard so nobody can see them loading up your stuff.

1- You are assuming the BG can read ???

2- Great idea, make it difficult for the BG, he'll go pick an easier victim.
The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

    Things burglers love:
"Privacy" fences and landscaping that conceals homes - they can do their dirty work hidden from view.
High noon - they love to play when everyone's away.
The tendency of everyone to mind their own business - Does anyone pay attention when that van parks in the neighbor's driveway?
Big screen LCD TVs in the livingroom window - nothing like saying, "Here tis!"
Bad dog signs - Really, don't you think they'll check it out?
Stupid "Trespassers will be shot, Survivors will be shot again" signs - Might as well say, "Guns here!"
People who think burglers want to park out back - which draws more attention, a truck pulling around back or one in the driveway?

    Things burglers avoid:
Wide open homes - they don't like to be seen.
Alarms - there's easier pickings next door.
Noisy neighbors - What everyone loves to hate.
Thorny bushes in front of windows - Nuff said.

I recently had a conversation with a Deputy in my County.

Last December we had a serious outbreak of daylight burglaries. A couple involved occupied homes when it wasn't obvious there was anyone home.

Just recently a burglary ring was busted a ways away from here. They confessed to burglaries along a long path between here and there, involving several cities and counties. How did they get busted?

They got their ride stuck in somebodies back yard and couldn't get it out.

It may be an odd sight to see a truck in the back yard but it is an odder sight to see your neighbor's belongings being loaded into a service van when no one is home.
