It`s 9:30PM,I`m on the computer and it`s on my hip..where it lives,cocked & Locked.
Very small apartment. G30 in the couch (while in the living room, i am most likely to be there). G19 in the Kitchen, near the sink (will most likely be there if I'm in the kitchen. Which is part of the living room) G27 on the nightstand (because everything done in the bedroom is done on or near the bed).
I figure that if someone rushes in, and doesn't fumble with the door, giving me the time to react and move to another room, I have access to a firearm in every part of the apartment.

I consider myself very prepared and I live in what has to be one of the safest neighborhoods I have ever seen. Thats the point of being prepared though. Anything can happen, at any time, in any place. if you carry/own for defense, I consider it irresponsible to not be prepared for what you think may never happen.
Its not that I sit and think about it. I don't jump up with my gun every time I hear a bump or someone knocks at the door. But understanding that anything is possible and being prepared for it, no matter where you live, gives you better chances than keeping a defensive gun locked in the closet. Of course, this comes from someone with no children. In that case the only unlocked gun would be on my person at all times. Or otherwise locked safely away from snooping little fingers.

Watching the rain out the window as I type, my Glock 23 is on the coffee table, but my wife has her M&P right next to her as she reads.
