I'm on FB for the sake of my family so they can see photos and stuff, but I don't post any useful information for a would-be stalker to use against me. Most I do is say "GO DAWGS!" on on Saturdays in the fall. This story shows why giving people minute-by-minute updates can lead to personal disaster. Ah, the age of narcissism.

She probably had her Facebook settings to private and believed that no one except her friends could see her posts. A lot of people get a false sense of security through that. It sounds like she was being stalked by "crazy guy" it's possible he never even saw her post but was watching her place anyway. Leaving her windows open when she knew there was a crazy guy wasn't the best move either. The article also said she lived in an apartment, I'd never leave the windows open in an apartment at night. On the other hand, I grew up there and wouldn't have thought twice about the area. I know times have changed and bad happens anywhere but I was shocked when I saw the beginning of the article!

Email via distribution lists is about as easy as it gets. And it's not public, via accident, naivete or corporate (FB) policy.
Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.

If you cautiously use FB, make sure your family is on the same page about posting carefully. I once looked someone up, who had a very "private" FB page by figuring out who his wife was (never met her) and her page was very public - such that I was able to find him.

Just took the last of my Oxycontin, tucked my smoking hot wife to sleep (she was awfully tired after the anti gun rally and swimsuit competition) and plan on counting all this cash before I drift off to sleep. I really need to fix the front door lock, it has never really worked right. All my neighbors on Elm Street (Portland is such a great town!) really seem to be perturbed about the shade of Blue that I painted the shutters. I told them it matched the Corvette in the driveway and they should move if they really have a problem. They do seem to like the new topiary in the front yard. It really does look like a blue spruce Janet Reno. Does anybody know any good alarm companies? My monitoring contract is up and I just had the equipment removed.
