Well, if that happens, or is in threat of happening, (and what would make riots occur in early November) I'm sure most of us (or at least the Forum members here in those specific geographical areas) will be ready to hunker down, and defend our homes and families. I guess I'll just wait and see, and if it happens here, I guess it will be time to "lock n load"

I stand corrected. Actually the single errant picture cited was pulled from the Hockey Hall of Fame web site: Google Image Result for http://www.hhof.com/graphfea/SCJ10_02a.jpg

Do you not always keep half a tank of gas in your car?

Don't you always keep sufficient guns and ammo on hand to repel boarders?

Don't you have at least a couple of weeks of food and water put up?

You don't have to be an extremist but having an ample supply of necessities to last you a couple of weeks should be part of everyday living. There isn't a big warehouse in town with all the necessities. Everything is trucked in and if there is a disruption in the supply lines everything will be exhausted in a day or two. If electricity fails, the water supply will only last a few hours.

Folks need to remember that if they don't drive much and their vehicle sits in their driveway or garage that it needs to have a full tank of gas. Not doing so will allow moisture to build up and leaving you with a vehicle that will not run when you need it. It costs no more to keep a tank full than it does to keep it half full.

That may have been true in the days of openly vented fuel tanks (prior to the EPA requiring sealed systems), but not in any modern vehicle with the closed fuel systems. I live in S. Fl where rain and 95% humidity is a daily occurence. My vehicle often sits near empty for days (sometimes several weeks) in these conditions with no ill effects of water in the fuel. You're much more likely to get any water from the gas station tanks than from fuel sitting in your gas tank.

Besides a couple of Riot Guns, make sure you have a couple of friends that will hunker down with you, who know how to use them.

The Korean Merchants, defending from the roofs of their shops in LA in 1992, were very effective in taking the fun out of the Riots (borrowed the 'no fun' thing from an above poster +1), and as it turned out, they did not have to shoot as much as be seen to deter a lot of the violence on their streets.

Make sure you watch until the question is asked about "are all those guns registered".... priceless, the News Hacks try to make them out to be criminals ..... "The troops have to be very concerned by this scene...." Like, no, because no one is rioting here...

"...have a couple of friends that will hunker down with you, who know how to use them."

That's part of my problem. I don't advertise I have guns and can use them, nor do my neighbors. See no evil... Hardly even see them most of the time. (No one wants to leave the A/C!) So I have to depend on myself or beat feet.

bro, there aren't gonna be any riots if Obama loses. Don't worry.

now, if Zimmerman gets off? that's what you need to worry about.

    No politics here please.

Pythius, fact of the mater is many things can lead to social discontent and rioting. Good advice has been left on this thread to have provisions and always be prepared for what can go wrong. What good is a safe full of guns if you only have one box of ammo? In a SHTF thread I started You mocked me and said the money I spent to prepare my family could have been used better.

If rioting begins in NYC we will see how prepared you are with your 300 rounds of .22LR. Personaly I could care less what you think or how you defend yourself/family but do not put down others for thinking ahead and planing for the worst.

Ok, so if in early November severe riots occur and the police pull back as they are prone to in riots, what are our options as parents, homeowners and citizens?

I read stories where some have predicted it ( Tom Head in Lubbock) but I am not aware of any calling for it. Can you provide links to any articles where an elected official is advocating the violent overthrow of our lawful government?
