    My most hazardous assignment

Tomorrow morning I will go on the most stressful duty that I have ever undertaken. I will be the chaperone for my sons kindergarten class on their first field trip.

May the lord have mercy on my soul.

We are going to "The Pumpkin Patch" which is a local petting educational farm that does a harvest them every fall. And like most disagreeable duties that I have done I was volunterered, this time by my wife.

    Builds character.

While you're there, maybe check to see what they'll do with their extra pumpkins on November 1. Maybe you'll get some for target practice.

Pgrass. We leave no man behind. When you can take no more give that shrill woman like scream and dad's from everywhere will respond. We have been there and will be there will you in spirit cause I'll be damned if I will ever do it again. Just kidding.

When I got to make those trips they were great enjoy yourself.

I've been to the pumpkin patch as well. It's tough my friend but when you are done you'll get to tack on a set of pumpkin wings. Good luck soldier!

Stressful? Just be sure to (a) aim straight while carving your pumpkin, and (b) watch the hugs [ie, go in with the elbow] with the little gremlins.

Sounds like fun, actually. Perhaps a bit onerous, if you were volunteered, but fun nonetheless.

I remember doing the duty back in the early 70's, while stationed in Germany. I learned 2 very important things on the first trip:

    1. How well behaved my son was.
    2. ALWAYS have a case of cold beers waiting for you when you get home.
