Good advice: Lock your doors and load your guns

The city attorney of San Bernardino is under scrutiny for telling residents to “lock their doors and load their guns” during a city council meeting.

I'm not used to someone in this guy's position and location giving such useful advice about home security. Of course the MSM and all the rest of the antis have their panties in a bunch over it.

More true words were never spoken. As there are less and less police on the force we are in more and more danger. Even with a full force the police can't be everywhere at any given moment. People need to start recognizing they need to be somewhat responsible for their own safety. There is of course more to this than getting a gun and some bullets. Safety classes, training classes and making sure your house is as secure as possible all fall hand in hand with self responsibility.

The problem with this is so many don't bother to be responsible for their own acts let alone be responsible for their own safety.

Glad he said what needs to be said. Our personal safety is just that-- personal. It's up to us to protect ourselves in our homes and while out and about as best as we can.

Hm. "Scrutiny" by whom? Seems to me he offered fairly practical, sensible advice, instead of the usual dithering that folks often get.

He's got a clue: If you want protection at all hours, realize it's got to start with you. Which means, among other things, arm yourselves. Duh.

The city's bankrupt. Police Dept. is down over 80 officers. People are mad the response times are down. The people elected their city officals.........

....and the city attny. says "lock the doors and load your guns".

Uuhhhhh..... I think he got his point accross by using the truth. That must hurt them anti's out there.

A politician told the truth! Stop the presses! That city has surpassed L.A. as far as crime and other non desirable qualities. It is scary. Of course he is under scrutiny, the city officials like to keep people in the dark about how they are screwing up.

Seems like common sense to me. Neither doors or guns serve much purpose if unlocked or unloaded.
But I must remember, we're talking about Kalifornia here. Common sense is non-existent out there.

The link provided consistently locked up my computer?

But I did look up the story thru Google....

Guy's right... whether you live in San Bernadino, or Podunk.... Lock your doors... and keep your guns loaded.

The "hand wringers" in Cali may fret and "scrutinize" all they want... But practical people across this country know the practical thing to do is exactly what he said.

I grew up in Gary, Indiana in the 40s and 50s, and even then everybody locked their doors. I learned as a little kid to always lock car and house door ALL the time! Stuck with me ever since. And now, I always have a loaded gun on me or within arms reach wherever it is legal. And that means one in the chamber too! Some "liberals" may think I'm paranoid--I just believe in being a good "Boy Scout" and being prepared.

He told them what he had to, a town of 210,000 losing 80 officers? Bankrupt, and with double the number of murders this year from last year?

I feel sorry for them, thanks to California's insane regulation, they are basically screwed.

I grew up in Wind Ridge/Jacktown PA. We never locked anything (house, barns, sheds or cars/trucks - left the keys in the cars/trucks) well into the late '80s (even the entire volunteer Fire Company was wide open = never an issue). People knew who you were, and who would get shot,,,,,, just sayin.

Edit Add: Now that I am living in Progressive land, we lock, watch, alarm and arm. ,,,,,, just sayin.

I have a friend who had things stolen out of his car while it was parked in his driveway. I Commiserated with him and asked about damage to the car. "No damage. It wasn't locked!" he told me. Then he went off into a rant saying that he shouldn't have to lock his car in his own driveway. I agreed with the principle that he "shouldn't" have to, but pointed out that reality indicates otherwise. A month later I asked him if he was locking his car now. "No! It's in my own driveway. I shouldn't have ... yadda yadda". A replay of the previous argument despite personal contrary experience. It's really strange, he's a smart guy and a very capable engineer, but seems unable to apply logic in certain instances.
