Been doing some research on theft deterrents and stumbled across this:

The concept makes sense, but has anyone had any experience with this, or a similar product?

Probably would deter some burglars at an inexpensive cost. However many home invaders seem to want people at home.

Maybe I'm missing something here.
If you want to have light shine that makes it look like someone is watching TV, why not..... leave the TV on?

Most TVs need the cable box or satellite box on to throw any sort of convincing in-use picture. This is not so much something for when I go to the store or out shopping for the day, but more so for using it in conjunction with a timer for absences lasting 1 week.Originally Posted by Echo_Four

You could leave the cable box on the entire time and just put the TV on the timer. I wouldn't waste my money on the fakeTV.
The problem with gun control is that drugs are already illegal.

Just leave the TV on, most current models of LED backlight TV's draw less power than a traditional light bulb (under 50 watts for a 42 inch TV) , and power consumption keeps going down every year.

We have one. They're a dirt cheap, easy to use product. We put it in our front upstairs extra bedroom when we leave town. It runs from 9 to midnight. Just one more item to add to the arsenal of home security and keep would be burglars guessing.

Interesting concept, but a novelty, IMO.
If I want it to look like I'm home when I'm not, I'll set lamps on a cheap timer.

An alarm system, a timer and two large dogs seems to be working well for us.

How many channels does fakeTV get?

Basic cable And You get the fake TV pay per view, the fake sports package, and all of today's fake TV movie channels! All for only 10 dollars extra.
