for those with small children , you can pick up an old computer tower for free almost, take out the guts add a hinge and you hav e a concealed gun hide a way, Lots of places to adapt to conceal around the house, never be far from access, lock them up for SAFTEY? now that means you don't have access if you need to protect them, Not really saftey either..........

I am at the desk in my bedroom. My CCW and HD is sitting in a drawer safe within an arm's reach.

I have small children (6yr olds) which is why it is on my person when at home. Hidden spaces might be great WITHOUT kids but trust me....my twin girls get into everything LOL, so hiding places are not options with kids

Right now, my HD gun(s)(both of them) are farther from me than they've been all day. So... about a foot? If I could wear my guns to bed and sleep comfortably, I probably would.

Arms length away. With the mag outside of the pistol. That way if I am awaken from a deep sleep I have to think for a sec while I insert the mag. Some may disagree and that's ok. But with two teenage boys I want to have a clear head. This is just one step I use to help accomplish that. Good topic though.

Hmmm I really like the PC idea. I also have a clock I bough from the NRA store that the face folds down to reveal a pistol compartment. Have had it for a bit and every one is clueless to it. Great investment and inexpensive.

    I actually have
(compression short holster while sleeping on my in-law's couch, seemed safest to keep it holstered)

But at the moment, about 6" away...
