Arms reach to my M&P and if I were to jump out of bed...arms reach to the Mossberg too. I try to keep the pistol in arms reach if it is not on my person.

Interesting... my computer chair faces away from the front door and my guns are locked up in the bedroom on the other side of the house because we have small kids. Food for thought indeed...

I dont have children in the house anymore but I do on occasion have grand children stay the night. My 45 stays on me IWB until bed then by the bed with the 12 ga and 22lr. no chance of them getting to any of them.

Same here, got the .45 with night sights inches away. The door is locked for the criminals protection, not mine!

I'd guess just over a quarter of an inch between me and 19 rounds of .45, oh yeah, and a gun too! The scenario you mention is one of the reasons I carry at home.
