This is a 7ga handgun safe (FAS1 SAFE). Here's what was used to secure it to the trunk floor in a 2007 Mustang GT. He couldn't carry at work and leaves his gun there during the day and wanted something strong. Can be mounted horizontally as well and vertically. Just drill holes where you need to and mount the best way for your application.

Hardware used for the installation from McMaster-Carr

First question being is it even legal for your G/f to be in possession of your handgun this is registered to you without her also having a CPL? Secondly wondering how those with locksafes in the trunk go about holstering and reholstering your firearms seems to me your threat level of being "observed" would be greatly increased with a safe in the truck rather then a safe under the seat?

In some states that may be a problem but in most states no problem. For her to have possession in her residence not a problem but for her to carry it concealed she would need a permit. A lot depends on state law as in some states you can only carry the weapon listed on your permit but in other states you can carry any weapon you choose.
