She held them with a .22 while they had a 9 mm inside the car. She's lucky it turned out well.

Unless she saw them get out of the car and observed they were armed then that so called "Judgement call" will get you arrested and thrown in Jail not to mention a potential felony stripping you of your firearms.You can't pull a gun on people on a hunch,thats when 911 comes into play,unless there is more to the story she overstepped her bounds IMHOShe made a judgement call and was correct.

Your right she was was making the call and it could gone poorly for her. I suspect there is a lot more to this story than what we are reading. It did note neighbors came to her assistance so there has to be some details missing.

please understand that i posted this because i thought it was great. unfortunately the newspaper has a habit of having some really terrible reporting. they often have spelling wrong, names wrong, or are just flat out missing things. they tend to try to out-scoop the other papers in the area and thus tend to get stuff wrong.
