Question How much ammo at the ready?

So, how much ammo do you have at the "ready"? I am not talking about in an ammo can in the corner of your closet, but how many rounds do you have loaded in magazines that are accessible incase SHTF? Or the occasional crack-head or two....

For me, I have 5 x 30rd magazines of .223 on my nightstand along with two extra 13rd magazines for my .45 and two speed strips for the .38. Of course, all of my ammo is within arms reach for the appropriate firearm, in which is also within arms reach of my side of the bed (married men, you understand ). In addition, I keep a stack of ammo in their original box on the corner of my nightstand. I have a box of .45 and .38 incase of a bug out situation.

    You??

Loaded 1911 (7 rounds) on my hip, Glock 32 (13 rounds) on the nightstand with two extra mags (26 rounds), Sig M4 loaded with a 30-round mag and 6 other loaded 30rounders near by, a loaded Taurus .38 in a nearby drawer, and a loaded SCCY CPX-2 (10 rounds) sitting next to it.

17 + 33 = 50 rounds of 9mm ready to go. If that's not enough to do the trick I'd probably be screwed no matter how many loaded mags I had laying around.

Oh yeah, my ammo can is in the living room closet all of ten feet away from me.

Couple of loaded revolvers in my nightstand safe. Grand total of 12 rounds "at the ready." Maybe four speed strips, too. Not really for "at the ready." Just for me to grab in the morning.

Personally I can't fathom a realistic scenario in which you need 176 rounds of .223 and .45 ACP "at the ready," in addition to what you have loaded in a .223 and a .45. But hey, whatever floats your boat. It's America, and you can do what you dang well please.

As a standard practice I keep all mags loaded, always. This gives me 20 rnds of .40 cal in my ruger, 17 rnds in my shield, and 25 rnds in my 1911...... if i need more than that, bury me face down so my enemies can kiss my... well .. you get the idea.

I can't fathom such a scenario either. I just want to have some options.

But my go to is the AR
