    Meth is EVERYWHERE.

I live 3.5 miles from Momma who still resides in my boyhood home for the past 54 years. The tiny town is at least 100 miles from any city y'all would recognize, has a population of <2000 & the street is one block long in an upper-middle class neighborhood. Crime is unHEARD of, except perhaps borrowing a bicycle without permission.

Yesterday morning, Mom's housekeeper noticed a half-dozen patrol cars rolling-up to the house next door. I had briefly met the neighbors previously with an introduction & handshake across the fence. Nice church-going, working, married couple with a young daughter & a well-behaved dog. Seems they were also running a very successful meth lab in the basement.

Brothers & Sisters, do NOT make the mistake that I previously have. NOplace is safe, NO place is immune, NO place is a Norman Rockwell painting. It's EVERYWHERE, be aware! Condition RED is now...S.O.P.

Like the man sang: "The lure of easy money has a very strong appeal...."

But, like Baretta also said "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime...."

I had to go to the post office yesterday to update my son's passport.

The lady in line behind me was covered in scabs, standing there jerking and tweaking. It was like having a zombie in the room.

I agree. It' bad, very bad. This drug comes from the deepest depths of hell. It's accomplishing all the goals hell designed it to achieve.

Except herion requires the right kind of poppy seeds, which are hard to get in any useable qunatity, so most of it is imported. Meth can be made by anyone, anywhere.

They must not be too hard to get, since heroin can be had here at $6-10/dose.

As a college student in the 70's, I have some (impersonal) heroin experience. IMHO, Meth is MORE INSIDIOUS. While heroin junkies certainly aren't level-headed citizens. They seldom exhibit a complete & absolute (almost religious?) proclivity toward unimaginable violence. And, while heroin "labs" do surely exist, it's seldom in the next-door neighbor's basement. Poppies don't grow very well in The Bluegrass.

But yeah, it's not so much WHICH drug is leading to criminal behavior. It's how (damn) Polly-Anna I've been about my imagined small town insulation from big city issues.

There's a meth lab bust story practically every night on the local news and has been for months, if not years.

Zombie apocalypse might be a possibility at this rate.

All it would take is one upset customer coming to your mom's house instead of the meth lab's house... I hear many home invasions are drug related.
