    First IL CCW's Approved

The first IL CCW licenses were approved today. I'm not aware of anyone having recieved their permits yet, but it should be soon™. It looks like only instructors have been approved at this time. They were allowed to apply for their permits a few weeks before the rest of us as a beta-test of the application process.

Be ready for the flood of WallyWorld reports that will be sure to follow over the next several weeks.

Permits are scheduled to mail out this weekend.

Well it sounds like the State Police rolled this out ahead of schedule. Amazing.

    Good thing or bad thing?

Depends on whose blood. Felons ... prepare yourselves to have a much tougher time, when preying on the ostensibly "weak."

So far people who have application numbers up to 5000 or so are being approved, mine is right around the 30,000 mark. Considering they've gone to 5000 since 2PM or so, I'm rather assured.

With the state population of IL at ~13M, that's ~3%. Might well go higher, once the word gets out. Might overtake FLA soon, if the pace keeps up.

Good stuff, this. My wife's family lives in IL, so I'm watching the reciprocity stuff (or lack thereof) closely.

I'm still in waiting on the site but I only applied on Tuesday. On Monday when I initially filled out the on-line app, the system wasn't working properly and rejected my data saying it didn't match what the State had on file.

Same exact data early Tuesday morning went right through. Go figure, it's Illinois.

My county has allowed CCW since last July up until January 4th, when apps were accepted on-line.

Under the law, people with a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card can apply for a license. Applicants must undergo live training, cannot be a felon and cannot have been arrested five or more times in the past seven years.
Wow, shocked. I bet even one arrest would just about guarantee no LTC in most towns in Mass. ("suitability") Before anyone blasts me, I'm NOT saying that's right, just surprised by that little line.

Funny how my town has less than 200 applications. In some ways I feel like the local LEOs already know me...oh well who cares can't wait.
