Never been to Iraq, but I've been to some torturing places in this world nonetheless. Altitude and humidity play a part. Hell. I work in hell, and it's just about the same hell I've seen in service in certain parts of the world. Thing you've got to remember is that every day spent in hell here on earth is less you'll spend later on down the road against your will. And if you think you're destined to hell, and spend most of your life in hell, then you'll be acclimated once you get there and it won't be a burden.
We thank all of you over there for your service, for us and our country. We have two sons in Afghanistan currently, and my wife got a call from one of them yesterday that put her into a tailspin. We spent an emotional day yesterday, and we're behind you all over on foreign soil always. Hoping you all come home safe, and that we pass on before our children. May God bless you all.

When I had to go to the Persian Gulf we had the luxury of riding there commercially with all the medical staff in the advanced party of my medical unit. ( 91 Bravo , medic ) We reached the runway of Daharan airport and the pilot landed the plane safely. We had full uniform on with few other items. When we taxied and stopped the pilot gets on the radio and announces to us:

Welcome to Daharan! Current time is 12am midnight and current temperature is 100 degrees!
I won't ever forget those words. And yes it was damn hot in the summer too!

A heart felt "Thank You" TM for your service, we appreciate your sacrifices. Keep safe, & extend our well wishes to all your buddies.
Asked by a CNN reporter "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist"?, the Marine sniper simply shrugged & replied "recoil".

Now more than ever, we are at war on our home soil ... WAKE UP & arm our troops when they are on home soil!

Can't believe they would use blacktop for anything out there.
The parking lots would have ruts in the blacktop, the sun heated it up so much.YIKES.

Thanks TangoMonkey for your service, and all the others who are over seas as well as Stateside serving our Country
