Not long now until somebody does something stupid.
No comment from DC!

Why would they comment? If they did, it would just ultimately give support to the Arizona bill, which would be a defacto admission that they are not doing their job on the border security.
They just need to post here offering round trip airfare, food and ammo, and a bounty.

"Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country,"

I've been advocating, since High School which was a long time ago, that our military should be on the border shooting any and all that come across illegally, as well as allowing our citizens to do the same if they so desired.
If legal constraints were removed I would happily be on the border shooting those that disregard our nation's sovereignty. As that is not how things are, and there are legal constraints, I will not do so at this time.
As far as any moral restraint, I don't have that in regards to this matter.
"They, in fact, are more likely to threaten local police than to go after the [Drug Enforcement Agency] or FBI, which really raises hackles in Washington when you have your federal law enforcement agents threatened."
This made me mad ^. It shouldn't matter if its a local leo, an FBI agent, or the kid riding his bike down the street; if drug gangs are threatening the citizens of this country the government should care.
How sad is it that our country, that is supposedly the most powerful, can be threatened and bullied by foreign gangsters. This is sickening. Anything coming across the border that is not going through an authorized checkpoint should be shot.
Arizona is leading the charge to force the federal government to perform its lawful duty to secure our border and defend against criminal incursions by foreign nationals. The next step should be for the governor to mobilize the Arizona National Guard for patrols and surveillance and, perhaps, helicopter gunships on alert for response to heavily armed criminal gangs. Rules of engagement should be simple; overwhelming force against any armed intruders.
It is possible (perhaps even likely) that the idiots in Washington, DC would federalize the Arizona National Guard, taking it from the governor's control. That, in itself, might be a positive thing, demonstrating that those in charge of the national government care more about criminal aliens than they care about US citizens.
A major change is necessary, and I think that the state authorities of Arizona should force the issue.
