What the .... "Never Pay a Speeding Ticket Again? "

    http://balkin.blogspot.com/2010/08/n...ket-again.html

A couple weeks ago, I became briefly fascinated and somewhat appalled by the appearance of a new Internet business that offered a sort of insurance against speeding tickets. In return for an annual fee of $169, ticketfree.org promised to reimburse you for the costs of up to $500 in moving violations. Its webpage enthused:

    • We don’t promise that you won’t get a ticket; we just promise that you won’t have to pay for it.
    • Never pay another ticket again. Period!
    • Never pay late fees on tickets.
    • Never worry about speed traps or radar while driving.
    • Never need an expensive ticket lawyer.
    • Never have a take a day off work to fight a ticket.

Their URL ticketfree.org does not even work. Sounds like another scam and nothing more.

Here is an interesting read about them.

Regardless, for me it's the points that would bother me, not the cost...I'm just sayin'...

Exactly! It's the points that are going to cost you the most money.

In Maine you get 1 positive point each year for 4 years if you maintain a clean driving record during the year. I'm not sure how many other states give positive points.

Virginia is also + points for years w/o a violation and demerits for violations

unless I'm mistaken Hogdaddy i believe Florida removes our tickets off our record after 5 years so that could in a way be seen as "positive" points..then again if we don't get tickets do we really get anything?

    Points.

Also, I have to wonder if that company is even legal. In most states you can't market insurance without approval from the state insurance commission; and what is being sold is in fact insurance. The promoter is accepting a premium with the promise that he will pay out a benefit under certain conditions. Sounds like an illegal scam to me. But, you never know. Check with BBB and state insurance folks before buying.

For the felonious minded, I bet a web site with an add like that could collect quite a bit of money before the perp. disappeared back into his high end condo.

Yikes. And I thought this was going to be about a radar detector guarantee or something.

I did see advertised a license tag cover (invisible) to keep traffic speed cameras from recording your plates. It has been awhile since I have seen it advertised but you may be able to "google" it if interested.
