Just heard a call go out. Escaped prisoner (from our county jail). What little info I've gotten is unclear. Haven't been called in. But definitely sitting here wide awake. Probably the craziest thing to happen since I started on here.

    Thank God for rookies.

The old timers, of which I consider myself to be, keep sleeping and don't answer the phone unless it's a full scale riot and staff are being hurt. In short, make them leave a voicemail, and then contact somebody at work, not a supervisor, and find out what's really going on.

My advice, get a life outside the walls and leave work at work. Don't listen to the scanner, it'll drive you nuts and pretty soon work will consume your life. It's a job, leave it at the gate. I like to type on various forums, but mostly guncentric, as that is my focus outside of work.

Thanks for the advice some of you. I'm proud to say that I have plenty of life outside work. Besides family, volunteering with various charities, church, hobbies and a multitude of other activities I consider my life quite full and pleaseant.

That said, I also enjoy my job. And I also pay close attention to what goes on in my community and my neighborhood.

As far as the "rookie" remark....well, I'll just laugh at that and move along. That's the only response it's worth.

    As for a follow up...

Young punk arrested for attempted B&E, caught with tools ski mask etc, was being brought in and made a break for it lol Didnt get far. Clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed. Not that this area is known for its intelligent population lol Thank goodness I wasn't born down here ;)
