LE Sensitive - Active Shooter - Special Research Reports by ROCIC Publications

Active Shooter - Regional Organized Crime Information Center Publications Beau Johnson 2006

I received this document yesterday as part of my additional duties in emergency management and while reviewing it jumped out at me that while the data seemed accurate it had particular slant to it. The document covers many active shooter situations: schools, workplace and church. It also goes into sniper and terrorist shootings.

It only appeared to present facts that supported their slant. In the dozens of school shootings it referred to, it did not mention that these are "gun free" zones. Oddly enough in the church shooting section it made no mention of the one time a church was attacked (Colorado Springs) when the congregation was populated with armed guards/citizens they brought that shooting to a swift end.

Then at the end I was not surprised to see one their sources was the Virginia Policy Center (www.vpc.org) who is as anti gun as they get. Take a look at their web page, they are on the attack of concealed carriers. As well there were three or four Main Stream Media reports used as sources.

For you LEOs out there are the reports you receive always this biased. If you have access to the ROCIC intranet you can find this document at http://rocic.riss.net/publications.htm

I think that is "Violence Policy Center" not "Virginia" Policy Center. Just another site distorting things.

Headlines: Conceal gun carriers killed 202 people.... But no mention of how many were in SD. What's that tell you?

It is well known that the executive levels of LE are to a large degree anti gun.

I get a kick out of LE sensitive material. I have seen things like videos locked unless you are a verified LEO that you can watch on youtube. I understand the need for secure intelligence but so much of it just doesn't seem all that 'secret' and a lot more gets leaked out anyway.

I agree. The LE Sensitive stuff is the least classified of any that we see and generally it is neither timely nor not already known in the public. I just find it odd that these guys (ROCIC, which I have not seen their products before) relies on MSM and the VPC.

Your link to the actual document you are referencing does not work. If its what I think it is, its pure BS. VPC is nothing but a ninny organization that thinks it is an authority on LE subject matter, nobody listens to them. They are typical liberals that are self appointed experts. The document is several years old, hardly LE sensitive. In fact, I'll probably move this out of the Law Enforcement section because of its VPC, not from LE.

Six - Not sure, but I think the link is for an intranet and possibly not accesible via the internet (see extract below). I received via email from the command EM folks. It is surely nothing new and earthshattering. Although the VPC was referenced they are but one of the "sources". I pasted the entire source list below. It has the obligatory FBI references but it to my point seems like a lot of MSM sources for a LE primer on active shooters, IMO. That was kind of my point that somewhere in the ROCIC org seems quite a non-gun friendly slant.

ETA: You can move this post if you must but it is not BS, the content is. You may have misread my post. It IS NOT a VPC document, they are a mentioned source. It was published by the Regional Organized Crime Information Center.
My question is/was to LEO/LEAs to determine if this more typical of the info provided. If this is the wrong forum I'll abstain from asking in the future.
