I have been to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, something everyone should see, it is just incomprehensible the brutality some are capable of doing.

The recruiting of Nazi war criminals and those of similar ilk, combined with over looking their war crimes against American troops and others, while expedient to fight the perceived communist threat, is a disgrace of enormous proportions.

That is one heck of a story. Sometimes it is really sad that we suppress things like this that belong at the forefront of history.

Every time I think I know everything about WWII something like this comes up. We will probably still be getting new stories for decades.

While no one in their right mind would condone what happened in Nazi Germany, I believe it was Gen. LeMay, when asked about the firebombing of Japan, replied, "The only reason we're not war criminals is that we won." It gives one something to think about.

There were a lot of people who thought the bombing of Dresden went way to far also, it was just kept a lot quieter.

    ^^^^^YEP^^^^^^^^^^

It turns your stomach to hear what happened, then again as you realize what deals were made to quell the facts.

    From article:

It almost never made it out of the slave labor camp. Twice, it fell in front of an older Austrian guard, the only one at the camp with any compassion."He would ask me what I write. I would say, 'I'm writing about the nice vacation I'm taking here in your compounds.' "

The guard would laugh. "I'll never forget him," Acevedo said, his voice trailing off into the past

Austrian reminded me of Christolph Walz as Col. Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds and his maniacal laugh at the theater reception. Then I thought of how the Brad Pitt character would mark Metz and Merz. The truth is a glorious human triumph over such adversity should not be buried.
