When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

Love that plane. Wow 35 years since first test - can't believe it.

Thx for the link Terry - must say my .wmv played somewhat erratically - but enough to see what mattered.

I remember being 10 years old, seeing Top Gun at the theatre and thinking that the Tomcat was the greatest ever. I have always loved the F-14 and always will. The swing wing design and the Phoenix missle system that allowed Tomcat pilots to engage targets out to 100 miles was tough to beat. Just ask those Libyans that wanted to tangle! The F-14 has earned its place next to the Corsair and the Phantom.

The F-14 and other aircraft the EA6B and the S-3B are being replaced by the FA-18 E&F, The "Super" Hornet. One superb aircraft which bears as much similarity to the F-18 Hornet as a Kumquat does to a Grapefruit.
