    "Restrepo"

Not sure if anyone has heard of this, but there is a documentary called "Restrepo" about a Platoon in Afghanistan. I haven't seen the film yet, but the director released a 15 minute interview with Medal of Honor recipient Sal Giunta.

Its only 15 minutes, but its a real tough video to swallow. Grab some tissues before watching.

The whole movie(documentary)will air this Sunday on the National Geographic Channel and will be released I believe 7 December on DVD. This was produced(and filmed)by Sebastian Junger(Perfect Storm)to go along with his book Warabout the 173d Airborne Brigade in A-Stan.

"humble" .... has seemed to define most Medal of Honor recipients.

it's the "Congressional Medal of Honor", not the Pres Medal of Honor.

The show is on tonight, Monday, Nov 29th, at 9pm

    National Geographic Channel

Sadly, this valley that the movie was filmed in was abandoned by our military this past April. The Taliban now run the valley once again.

This was in line with our new strategy of just winning over the key high population areas of Afghanistan, and not worrying about remote, backward, low population areas like this one.

    Exclamation

I was deeply moved by this program.
It only reinforced what I already know about the bravery and resilience of American GI's.

While watching however,I couldn't stop thinking about the recent report that the VP of Afganistan flew to his bank in one of the Gulf Emirates with a suitcase containing $42,000,000 in US currency.I'm sure these $$'s did not come from a chain of Burger Kings.

Wasting the lives of our troops for a "scumbag" like this makes me very angry.

A a Vietnam era Vet,I remember the anger shown towards our guys when they came home because of the hatred for the war. A war most of them didn't really want.

Thank God we are at least no longer blaming our troops for the idiocy of our leaders.

The stupidity of this war does not in the least minimize our troops' bravery.

I was pretty amused by his initial comment when the interviewer asked him what his thoughts were about receiving the MOH. That was classic!
