With limitations on aerosol cans and a prohibition on percussion caps ( which probably also applies to primers), I'd say somebody screwed up.

Who in their right mind would load a suitcase full of primers and then put them on a commercial airliner!!! This guy deserves the 10-20 he will get!!!!

Seems foolish, but maybe he just wanted to take his favorite brand back to Jamaica to roll his own. You gotta wonder what the baggage handler did to that bag to make one of them go off.

Uh, I don't know about that aerosol can stuff. Folks pack shaving cream and hair spray every day. All sorts of medicines are dispensed as aerosols too.

Maybe I am missing something, I did not see anything in the article about an aerosol can.

Where does this aerosol can come into play?

Can primers just "go off" like that, due to handling? Thank goodness the ones in my bullets don't just "go off" when jolted and such, otherwise I'd have to tip-toe everywhere I went.

The original article said aerosol can but it was updated today to just indicate the primers were the cause of the explosion.

If they are in the original packaging (little tray with outer sleeve) highly unlikely, now if they had been dumped loosely into a box or jar just banging around could set them off.
