Yep, I joined the Air Force to be a printer, when the orders came out they advised me that I was going to be an Air Policeman, that I would be involved in Law Enforcement. Then after training they introduced me to the B-52, 30 below zero and the plane had a heater connected to it, I didn't get a heater.

Just assume your recruiter is going to lie to you and get over it.

I knew what I was walking into when I joined up back in the '70s.

Today's potential recruits wouldn't be enthused with scenes of big, black B-52s dropping hundreds of bombs on targets far below, or of F-4s battling it out with Migs. It takes something "real" (in their video minds) to catch their imaginations

Fortunately for the next generation, the next version of the popular Call of Duty video game (according to the Onion News Network ) will be far more realistic:

    http://www.theonion.com/video/ultrar...-awaiti,14382/

(in the game you spend a lot of time filling out paperwork, delivering things that weren't ordered, standing guard, complaining about cellphone service in the desert, etc.)
In the heat of the moment, what matters is what your body knows -- not what your mind knows.

Yep, I got a Wii for Christmas, can't wait. After the wife holds that controller for a couple hours, she will understand why I have to buy all of those light guns.

The days of E1s and E2s cleaning cans just doesn't exist in the AF. We've got contractors doing it at home and TCN contractors doing it abroad.

Shoutout to the real heroes, the Magnolia Militia in Jackson who fly MEDEVACS out of Balad to Landstuhl, or at least they used to.

They're looking to boot 6K people due to budget cutbacks, go Guard or Reserves.

Hummm, if that draws recruits, it scares me.

No thanks, I have am finishing up with the Corps now. Actually the Air Force tends not to like people coming over from the USMC infantry, very few career fields open to us.

When I saw that commercial, I thought as an old AF airman (1968), what the hell is that airplane? But, I figured it's primary focus group is today's video generation. I once talked to an Army soldier who said these video kids learn quick and do fantastic during tank training. The sims are not much different than the games they've been playing for years. It's not your daddy's military anymore.
May we never forget those in uniform who protect us night and day in lands far away. And those in all wars who paid the supreme sacrifice in defense of our country. May God Bless our Troops and First Responders.
