I read the story the other day and got misty eyed. The bond between people and their dogs is incredible, and I imagine even more so for soldiers. God bless them and keep them, for they are a special team.

Bomb sniffing dogs will always have a special place in my heart, as they save a lot of lives, and make life on a crappy little patrol base a little bit more bearable.

May they both R.I.P. The British have been some of our staunchest allies in the Global War on Terror, and are great to work with.

I recently lost one of my dogs’ by the hand of a groomer and the pain has been really bad. My other dog was so depressed that he just slept all day and night. After adopting a new dog, he suddenly improved as did I, and now we’re finally on our way to recovery. The bond between dogs and humans, is stronger than that of humans alone.

Saber, I feel your pain, man... Glad you've got a replacement companion for your other dog and yourself.

What can one say.... they were joined, and they departed that way. I hope the parents bury Theo's ashes with Liam. Sad day.

I got a call one day to hurry up and get to my father's house. When I entered, it was obvious he was dead (lying on the floor), but his Mastiff was on top of his chest and not letting anyone near him ...... EMT nor the Police. I called 'her' ... and she went right with me outside. Dogs can be extremely loyal, and I have no doubt that Theo knew what had happened to his handler ... and his best friend.

I've seen dogs mourn and not eat, nearly dying from starvation, at the loss of their owner.

    RIP ...
