when will people learn that you can't point weapons or things that look like weapons at others. It leaves the other person with little choice but to defend themselves. I hope the officer bounces back from the shoot quickly and can get on with his life.

When will kids and even adults realize - pointing about anything at a cop or one of us - is a bad move!

Regardless of a gun's authenticity - the result is perceived threat and if this comes over as a ''him or me'' threat then action must be taken.

I fail to see quite how anyone on the receiving end of a ''gun-like'' presentation is gonna have the luxury of time to analyze and deduce its authenticity. The sooner folks thinking of playing these lethal games get this in their thick heads the better.

On a similar note of recent years Kids have been doing inappropriate things with cheap lazar pointers , I am frankly surprised that we have not had a horrific " brat " toll over this .

I have heard it said that one should shun even the appearance of evil, ie, in this case the pointing of a pellet gun in the wrong direction.

Recently here in Nashville, a bunch of kids were held at gunpoint by a 14-year-old who demanded their popsicles. The gun turned out to be a BB gun, but idiots who get cocky eventually try bigger and badder crimes with their "guns."

And that's how they end up getting shot by people with real guns.

I feel sorry for the cop.

Betty if the Officer is having problems , i do too . Hopefully the officer realises that the idiot took the choices away since it is the officers duty(s) to both protect the public and to go home to thier family at night, every night , without fail . Feel free to substitute end of shift for night here lol .

At twenty years old he should have known what he was doing. No remorse for the young man, only for the officer.

My prayers for the officer's emotional health.

From the report, sounds like he did exactly the right thing. 'Man with gun' report, guy fighting, drawn weapon, ignored verbal orders, looking down the tube...

Any other response and we could have been reading about another cop killed in the line of duty.
Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.

Officers shouldnt have to defend themselves for defending themselves.

The kid got what he deserved, noone made him point that gun at the Officer, he did it himself, and he suffered the consequences.

Clean shooting, hope the Officer doesnt fall prey to all this victim empathy going around. Hope he stays healthy.

    recently

a young man from central mass. now living in Rhode Island was shot
dead by the police. He was carrying a pellet gun with a red tip
that he painted black to look like the real thing. THe police asked
him to drop the pistol, he refused and they put 7 in him.

He was looking for trouble and found it.
