    Most essential tool

LEO's everyone knows the two symbols of law enforcement are the badge and gun of an officer, sheriffs deputy, constable, marshall, etc. etc. What piece of equipment on your belt and separately in your car is so important to you that if you were not given one or able to buy one that you would leave your department and go work somewhere else. For me, it is my radio and flashlight. I have to go into a lot of dark abandoned buildings where there is no natural or artificial light other than what I bring with me. My radio ensures help is only minutes away and I will always have back up on the way. In my car, i think my most important equipment is my patrol bag, it has everything I need, from extra OC to spare mags and speedloaders to paperwork and tickets. Whats your most important piece of gear other than your weapons that allows you to do your job safely and easily as possible.

Sorry for the drift, not an LEO, but I double check my behavior more when I see a cop car than a cop.
I'm not a lawyer or a LEO, just a pantload with a computer.

Not an LEO, but after a career in the military I learned, the most important tools you have to use, but are NEVER issued are your brain and common sense. Without either your lost in the dark.
