Thankfully, you all have given me a chance to rethink my position. Years ago we could dial 3041 and call the fire department and say ol' joe Brown's barn is on fire. Every knew where ol' Joe Brown lived. Call the PD, 8456, and say There has been a wreck at dead man's curve and we need an ambulance. (the ambulance was nothing but herst with an O2 tank and first aid kit) and dispatch took care of it. Today, we dial 911 and expalin the problem, 911 dispatch then calls the local EMS and Police for the given area. They in turn call the other troops who call the other troops.
In all honesty. there has to be some point of initation. And that begins with the first caller. Years ago that did not matter. I guess today that is a much different case.
Lets close the thread by me admiting that in some ways I am living in the past and EMS/EMA/LEO/EMT operations are certainly not what thy were 30 years ago.
Thanks for everyones input. Nice discussion.
