Good that the officers will be ok, better that the dirtbag that shot them will not be living off of taxpayer money for the rest of his life. Bad that his family had to watch him kill himself. I'm really shocked though, the restraining order didn't prevent all of this.
On a related note I want an armored Bobcat!

That's close to home, but then we all know that dirtbags and crazies are scattered all over this country. They just take turns popping up!
Stay armed...stay alert...stay safe!
Glad the officers are not seriously injured.![]()

Glad the officers will be alright. Interesting combination to respond to a domestic, a Sgt., a patrolman and a detective.

"I do what I do." Cpl 'coach' Bowden, "Southern Comfort".
Lake City PD has a total force of 45 sworn personel so that may account for the mix of officers doing the Injuction Service.

"A chemical device was also activated by the suspect, who Hunter said had a military-style chemical mask."
It would be nice to here some more details about this chemical device.
There is a solution but we are not Jedi... not yet.

My thoughts as well.
I'd be willing to bet it wasnt the first time that the police had responded there. Like usual, there is always more to the story.

Nobody should ever get shot in the process of solving a problem period. Whenever someone does, it's due to lack of communication.
Three uniforms get shot after knocking on a door. What's to communicate? Door opens and bullets come out. Dude wasn't a problem, he was a nut job. Explosives? Chemicals? Known only after the fact, I'm sure.
These are the hazards LEOs encounter. I wasn't there, but I'm sure they knew their protocol and did their best. They weren't rookies. Bless 'em.

Many times subsequent investigation and debriefing reveals fundamental errors. Other times it reveals it just was not our day.
So no matter what else is going on in your relationship, leave home with a kiss.
Hope the Officers make a full recovery,I remember a call a few decades ago,we responded to a DV call at a home we knew,it was a mobile home,2 officers went to front door and one officer had moved to the rear where he could see the front door from a window,as we knocked the suspect started opening the door, our backup yelled GUN into his mike, suspect was looking into the barrels of 2 357 magnums,he dropped the gun he was concealing behind his leg.
