Thanks for posting. The professionalism, poise, and command of the soldier speaks volumes.

What command that officer had. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. All those who serve that duty should be told an extra thanks for serving at such an honorable post and holding such high standards.

Being disrespectful at that memorial is grounds for a boot party by anyone who wants to come.

When I was in middle school, back in the early 80's, we visited the Arlington, including the tomb. The teachers and tour guide made a point of impressing upon us the importance of respect at this memorial as well as it's significance. I can't recall their exact words, but I can recall us standing there and getting the lecture. I might add that nobody would have ever considered acting disrespectfully, even the class clown. The consequences would have been severe. My how things have changed, and not always for the better.

I thought the announcement by the solder on duty was perfect. It alerted and educated a small group that it was recommended that they modify their behavior, even if it was not, to the best of my knowledge, illegal. You, however, think it is also necessary to physically assault a group of people for enjoying the freedoms that these soldiers fought and died for. That, sir, is showing true disrespect.

    Thumbs up

Aside from the verbal announcement by the tomb guard, going from shoulder arms to port arms sent a very definate message to those who were acting in a disrespectful manner, a message that was coveyed in no uncertain
    terms.

    Well done soldier.
