Does Iran not have any world history books??? Ask the Japanese how it worked out for them in the 40's... and that was before we had near the technology (ships, aircraft, etc) we have now aboard a carrier fleet. Would not be advisable?? What would not be advisable is the Iranian government picking a fight they can't last more than a day in.

The next thing we know is that Iran will show a US NAVY Sailor taking a dump and state that they scared the crap out of him.

Ok... I literally laughed out loud... In the middle of an otherwise quiet social gathering... Thanks for that!

While I am weary of the wars in sand... All I can say to Iran is "Bring it, or shut up."
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose

I would really hate to see another war, but this one is coming sometime in the future.

My "hats" off to you and those there at that time. You made us proud.

I won't forget them kiling an American Naval member and tossing him out the door of an airliner, and the baracks in Lebanon either.

I saw an awesome pic online of an carrier, facing HEAD ON and the caption read: "90,000 tons of DIPLOMACY." which is a powerful message that Iran ought to carefully consider. Think of this as a replay (except in king size terms) of the Somalia pirate situation with the Maersk (sp?) Alabama rescue of the hostage by those SEAL snipers on Easter morning last year. Maybe it would be appropriate to send this one in for a backup.

Just like that annoying little dog that barks at you through the safety of a fence - but wets itself, tucks tail, and runs away the minute you advance and say "boo(m)"

Attacking a US ship in international waters, is also considered an act of war. Most wars, have started with someone shooting at someone else's ship... including us. Our entry into WWII was based upon German's shooting at a US vessel, so was Viet Nam (that later was discovered never really happened).
