    Backup holster

Anyone use or have seen this holster used?

    VIDEO DEMO

Seems like it should conceal well and just look like vest bulk. I'm currently using a 5.11 backup holster attached to the side of my vest via velcro and it makes me look like I have tumor on my side and it's not really comfortable.

I've seen them, haven't tried one, doesn't look like something I would use, wouldn't want that hangin off the front like that, but thats just me
I'm fine with my velcro 5.11/blackhawk under the left arm

    My advice...K.I.S.S.

Basic quality leather holsters...either IWB or OWB.

Seems a bit complicated to me. It might add an extra 15 minutes to getting in uniform. And how on earth would one draw it in a pinch? I wore a little holster that attached to and rode benieth the two vest straps under my left arm. I'm sure some HSLD company still makes them. Just leave a button open on my shirt... pretty quick access.

Although there are exceptions I tend to agree.

I think once it's on the vest you don't need to worry about it too much. They had some drawing videos as well, you unzip your shirt, pull down the flap and draw.

I really want to like my current holster but there is a fine line between conceal and comfortable.

Well that is a concern, hopefully the soft plate in front would prevent that. The upside is if someone manages to land a punch to the chest they are in for a surprise.

Yeah, that would be a problem. I saw a similar system on another site (it was sewn on to the carrier instead of velcro) and the suggestion was to remove the buttons, sew them permanently on the outside flap and then sew in some velcro at the attachment points

Since I haven't found any real world use of this system yet, I don't want to be the test subject. I went ahead and ordered a Uncle Mikes vest holster, I think I'll be able to position that one a little better than the 5.11.
