About time!
I agree with using OUR NATIONAL GUARD to guard OUR nation for a change! It didn't say if these soldiers were NG though. At this point I still don't think that I disagree.
They are active duty soldiers
I agree with the move ,,,, as long as they allow them to
carry HOT and ready to defend themselves without some
of the stupid rules they have had in the past.
Believe me, I am all for stopping illegal immigration and drug transportation into this country; and I also support our troops 100% and appreciate the fact that they put their lives on the line for the rest of us...but I can't really say that I see fit for them to be deployed anywhere within our own borders.
I think I would have felt better about helping guard my own nations border more than anothers...

Until they stop the birther law,and impose stiff penalties like prison work gangs for people illegally crossing they will keep trying.After watching "Border Wars" our Border enforcement is a joke,people caught trying to cross numerous times laugh and say they will keep trying since all they do is send them back across the border.Until they change their flawed policies including stiff penalties for ID theft and fraudent use of somebody elses SSN number we will continue to waste the money and services we spend on Border Patrol
Should not have been active duty troops, which are federal troops, but rather Texas National Guard troops, which are troops that belong to the Governor of the State of Texas.

What if any good will they serve in a support role? As stated above will they be "Hot"? What sort of limitations? The actve duty military doing back up support!? Why active duty? Isnt that the role of the NG? If your going to use active duty than it would make more sense to me to lock down the border and allow the military to take charge! In my humble opinion the crisis along the border is beyond the ability of the border patrol and it is they who should be the supoorting agency. Perhaps it's my utter distrust of the current administration, but something says red herring, suddenly the government wants to answer the pleads of the border states? I can't help but add the fact it's an election year!!
